MEET OUR SWIM COACHES
MATT SIMMERMON
Matt is returning for his 6th year at Brookside. He swam competitively for 14 years before beginning his coaching career at his summer club, Chestnut Run. From there, Matt began coaching at GPAC as well as coaching many other sports while he pursued a career in physical education at East Carolina University.
He is currently the head coach at Gloucester Catholic High School, a teacher at Pleasant Valley School, as well as many other jobs! Matt has a passion for developing stroke mechanics and helping create a winning mindset for all athletes. He cannot wait to see his family at Brookside for another awesome summer! Phins up!
EMMA CHAMBERS
Emma is in her third year as an assistant coach with the Dolphins. She swam competitively for 16 years, reaching the national level with GPAC, and competed in summer league for 13 seasons before graduating in 2021 from Gloucester Catholic.
Emma recently earned her degree in Health Science with a concentration in Public Health and a minor in Biology from Sacred Heart University, where she was a Division I student-athlete. Currently, Emma runs the Little Dolphins program, where she teaches young swimmers the fundamentals of swimming. She is passionate about fostering a positive and enjoyable learning environment, helping young swimmers grow both in and out of the water.
BEN NEWCOMB
Ben graduated last year from the Brookside Swim & Dive teams after 11 years on the squad, and is a Pitman High alumnus. He was a 4-year varsity member of the soccer, swim, and track teams, and a 3-year captain for soccer. Ben just completed his freshman year at Stockton studying Physical Therapy and as a member of the Men’s Soccer team.
MEET OUR DIVE COACHES
PEYTON SHERRILL
This is Peyton’s second year being Brookside’s head dive coach. She has been diving since she was 8 years old and is currently a D1 diver at the University of Delaware. She is so excited to share her passion for diving with all of our kids!
NATE NEWCOMB
Nate is currently a member of the Brookside Swim & Dive teams and preparing to enter his senior year at Pitman High School. He is a 3-year varsity member and captain of the swim and dive teams for PHS, as well as a varsity member of the soccer and track & field teams. Nate has been a member of the Brookside Dolphins for the last 11 years and is known by most as the team Mascot “Fins”.
